Tips for Removing Common Stains
We have found that a wet/dry vacuum/shop vac is the best way for removing common stains and spills. Time is critical to keep the stain or spill from leaving permanent marks. The more time that elapses before treatment, the more difficult a stain will be to remove.
Use the wet/dry vacuum to get as much of the spill up as possible. Using a clean white cotton cloth, apply several drops of cleaner to a clean white cloth and blot the carpet in an inconspicuous area. If a color change occurs or color transfers to the cloth, consult a professional carpet cleaner immediately.
Once confirmed that the carpet is colorfast, spray the carpet stain remover on the spot and work the spray in from the outside with the clean cloth. You want to work from the outside in to prevent the spill from spreading and becoming larger. Use the vacuum again to remove as much of the spray and spill. Most cleaners require a rinse with clean water. Again, using a spray bottle, apply the water and rub from outside in using a clean cotton towel. Vacuum, repeat. Once complete, lay another towel over the spot and blot any remaining moisture.
For the best results, use Guardian Carpet Cleaning Spot Remover. Our spot remover is formulated to not require a rinse. Any cleaner that remains, will dry and be removed with the next vacuuming. If you find yourself dealing something that you are not comfortable with or it’s larger than you can handle, call Guardian. We will take care of the spot and any other cleaning.
