Accidents Happen-Removing Pet Stains Out Of Carpet

GUARDIAN CARPET CLEANING’S TIPS TO REMOVING PET STAINS OUT OF CARPET

If you are like our family and have pets, chances are you’re familiar with the accidents our furry friends sometimes have on the carpet causing stains to appear in our carpet not to mention the smell that can be left behind.  Removing pet stains out of carpet can be challenging.  When it happens, you need a plan so you can react quickly and prevent any permanent staining or odors. If the urine sets to long, not only with it create a possibly permanent stain, but bacteria will start to grow which leads to the unpleasant odors. Below is the method we use and recommend to our clients to help remove pet stains out of carpet.

*NOTE: Before you begin, always do a spot test on a piece of the carpet that is normally not visible to ensure the process won’t cause any additional stains. Carpets react differently sometimes so the motto is, always test first.

HOW TO REMOVE DOG URINE FROM CARPET

Process 1:

Soak up the urine stain using paper towels, a stack of newspaper or a white cotton cloth.
Press firmly into the stain either by standing on it or setting something heavy. This will help absorb as much of the urine as possible.

Taking a natural approach, you will need some white vinegar (helps neutralize the ammonia in the urine) and water. Mix in a bowl a solution of 50% vinegar/50% water. You need to mix enough solution to thoroughly saturate the carper fibers all the way down to the carpet backing. Remember, the accident saturated all the way down so you have to get down there too to neutralize it.

Blot the urine stain using a paper towel, newspaper or cotton cloth as before while pressing firmly into the spot.
Repeat the process until the cloth comes up white with no yellowing.

Use Guardian Carpet Cleaning Spot and Stain remover. Our spot and stain remover is specially formulated to deal with not only general dirt but urine as well. It has an enzyme ingredient that attacks the bacteria to neutralize it then encapsulates any remainder bacteria as it dries. Once dry, the encapsulation forms tiny crystals that will be removed the next time you vacuum. The crystals are so small, you will not see or feel them but they’re working for you.

Saturate the spot when applying the cleaner. Remember to the accident saturated all the way down so you have to get down there too to neutralize it. Work the solution in a circular motion from outside the stain to inside. This will help prevent the stain from growing and impacting more of the carpet area.

Once dry, vacuum. That’s it! You have successfully removed the pet stains out of your carpet.
